A single mother, who attended law school at a time when it was tough for women to do so, Julie admits that even with her resources, it has been challenging to raise her children alone. Having committed $100,000 to the Washington Area Women’s Foundation in aid of other single mothers, Julie decided to make the considerably larger gift of $1 million since, as she says, to make a big commitment, you have to stretch yourself.
